Bend, Oregon

Cindy Briggs, Bend, Oregon artist, is distinctly known for her captivating watercolors of Italy and the West. Leading plein air and studio workshops throughout Europe and the US, she paints with serendipity - splattering, mixing and mingling the paint right on the paper to create her luminous watercolors with exciting color transitions. Briggs award winning paintings and instructional manual “Make Every Day A Painting” are colorful portrayals of her travels. Niece of Colorado Artist, Ellie Weakley, Briggs earned a degree in design and studied with many notable artists before .pursuing her career as a fine artist and workshop instructor. Her paintings have been featured in Watercolor Magazine, galleries, private collections, and numerous National shows and she continues to teach workshops for Daniel Smith in Seattle, for Make Every Day A Painting Workshops in Europe and California, and in Central Oregon. "Watercolor inspires my soul - like life - the more I make of it's unpredictable qualities the more interesting it becomes. With each painting my goal is to reverently capture the essence of my subjects with dynamic color and sundrenched light. On one of my recent workshop trips to Tuscany I painted this old weathered building and vineyard in the Val di Orcia. I thought it was a beautiful example of the cycle of life... the building and vines will continue to flourish as the vineyard guardians come and go." - Cindy Briggs
