ARTWORK STATEMENT

“I am only interested in the beauty we have on this earth.  If I can interpret and communicate that beauty through the vehicle of paint and canvas, I then feel I have earned some measure of success”.

BIO:

Don Dernovich is a Signature Member of the National Watercolor Society, the American Watercolor Society, and also the Oil Painters of America.  Most recently Don was awarded Signature Membership in the Western Artists of America.  Don’s work has appeared in many publications including the American Artist magazine, Cowboys and Indians, American Art Collector, Peaks and Plains, and in several books published by Rockport and Northlight Publishers.  Numerous awards include “1st Place in Oil” at the Phippen Museum Western Art Show and Sale, and the “Artists’ Choice” at the “Spirit – A Celebration of Art in the Heartland” at the Museum of Nebraska Art.  This year he was awarded the “Best of Show”, and the “Gold Award”, as well as the “Museum Purchase Award” at the 2011 Western Artists of America Show and Sale, Pearce Museum, Navarro College, Corsicana Texas.  Don earned the MA from the University of Wyoming and the MFA from Fort Hays State University, Hays, KS.  He is listed in Who’s Who in American Art.
