Doris Besikof began painting in 1994, while she was still practicing law in Denver, and she has never stopped. Her paintings range from still life to abstract, but whatever their style, her work is distinguished by her use of color. She had her first one woman show 18 months after she began painting. Since 2000, Doris has painted full time in California where she has had numerous one-woman shows and has been the Hotel Artist at Loews Coronado Bay Resort for nine years. Together with Loews she held one-woman shows in 2003 and 2007 which raised a total of $32,000 for uninsured victims of San Diego area wildfires. Doris is one of seven Arts Commissioners for the city of Coronado and the Chair of the Coronado Visual and Literary Arts Committee. She still feels closely connected to Colorado and is honored to participate in this auction.
