Elaine “ANGEL” Gomer has been classically trained primarily in Europe, studying in Spain with a Grand Master, Juan Ignacio Sardi, literally apprenticing for four years. Being instructed first in drawing & draftsmanship needed for still life, along with the classic palette of colors & their techniques, combined with practicing her painting skills, Angel gained a firm foundation that she’s found is not exclusive to the still life. These skills can be used in painting most subject matter. Along with still life, Angel was educated in landscape, seascape, portraits, restoration and gilding. In Paris, France - Angel studied Realistic Impressionism at the Musee’ de Louvre through the University of Maryland, giving the her opportunity to study great works in their museums of origin.
Angel grew up in the Northeast having parents with many artistic interests including music, fashion design and painting. Her parents encouraged her artistic talents.
Angels’ studies have included major universities & notable workshops. Her technique has evolved but she stays true to her foundation; however always including a human element to which the viewer can relate. She keeps in mind the mantra of her “maestro/profesor”: “There is no magic brush, but rather the magic from within you that comes out through your brush.” She has juried associate memberships in: Oil Painters of America; Audubon Artists; Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club; & National Society of Artists, Signature Membership.
She has been accepted into many juried shows & has received many honors among them are: Audubon Artist’s 65th Annual Exhibit 2007 @ Salmagundi Gallery [NY, NY] & Awarded The Jack Richeson Art School & Gallery - Gold Brush Award for Oils;
