Artwork submitted for bid
at our September 4, 2011
auction:

.

"Snowy Field of Evergreens"
14"x11", watercolor
Gallery Price: $500

Inspired by her mother, Ethel Goldblatt, an accomplished sculptor and watercolorist, Janis has returned "full-steam" to her artistic passion.  "I love the process of creating in watercolor and always attempt to infuse a subjective response, sensitivity, and an emotional/expressionistic quality to my work, while respecting the amazing nature of the translucent and liquid pigment."

After selling her first watercolor in a high school art exhibit, Jan has been "hooked" by the creative process intrinsic to making art.  She earned a minor in art at SUNY Plattsburgh and continued her studies over the years at Rocky Mt. School of Art with Phil Steele,  Life drawing classes with Denver artists, the University of N. Colorado while pursuing her doctorate in psychology, and through professional workshops with such notable artists as Victor Issa, Karen Ramsay, Bruce Cohen, Tom Owen, Frank Francese.  She is also significantly influenced by John Pike and Zoltan Szabo especially with regard to landscape paintings, as she responds to the incredible awesome-ness of nature.

A strong supporter of the arts, Janis has contributed paintings to meaningful causes including the Azheimers Association Memories in the Making Art Auction, Greeley Chorale, Larimer Chorale, Childsafe Art Thrives, Mile High Golden Retriever Club,  and The Richard Schmid Auction, while maintaining professional memberships in the Artists Association of Northern Colorado, Colorado Watercolor Society, and Northeast Watercolor Society of which her mother was a charter member.  A portion of her proceeds are donated to cancer research and other artistic/environmental venues.

An award winning artist and active in regional exhibits, her paintings have also been juried into shows through the Colorado Watercolor Society, Northeast Watercolor Society, Thompson Valley Art League, and HART Show through Foothills Art Center where she is currently represented by the Foothills Gallery Gift Shop, Golden, CO.
