Curriculum vitae: I was born in 1950, in Mosonszentpéter, Hungary. After finishing secondary school I continued my studies at the Decorator Training School in Budapest. Every summer I attended the courses of the Open School of István Szo"nyi Fine Arts in Zebegény and for some years I took part in the work of Open School of Mártély. I took a degree in drawing and geography at the Teacher Training College in Pécs. Then I worked as an employed graphic artist. I have specialized on oil painting since 1985.
In his words, János Korognai believes in the - viability of European art. For Korognai this means the preservation of many Euro-centric academic styles. Within a visualization of how this tradition of painting might evolve, Korognai considers his work. His painting /Bruges/ demonstrates his informed practice of painting with attention towards European subject matter and style, especially the academic movements that led up to impressionist painting. Korognai work shows a great sensitivity to color and light. In his faceted shapes one can find the influence of Cezanne. In his purple hued shadows one can find the influence of Monet. He paints architecture and landscape with deft ease and immediacy. His work has been developed over a long period of dedicated observation and technical practice in Hungary. During this time he has concentrated on the - continuous renewal of European art. He has painted since 1985 and has exhibited widelly.
