Jeff Brooks grew up in the farming communities of Southeast Colorado. He spent countless hours exploring the endless span of the flat lands seeing his surroundings in a different prospective than others. Formal training was not available in his rural area, but Jeff kept doodling and drawing from magazines to keep the interest alive. Teachers were encouraging, but living in the country 25 miles from the nearest town of any size did not allow pursuing more about art.

Art became a reality after sustaining a work related injury as a mechanic. Not able to continue this career the opportunity to pursue art came after joining the Art League in 1992. He has maintained active membership, served as a Board of Director, chaired numerous committees and then hired as Gallery Director of Lincoln Gallery in 1996. His tenure with the Organization has been helpful for himself as an artist, and exciting through encouraging as well as mentoring others about art.

His mother was the gentle persuasion and support with art. Over the years Jeff realized the value of her teachings through numerous projects. Although some of them were necessities for life, creating, experimenting with a variety of mediums were rewarding as well as fascinating.  He has painted for the last 13 years although not full time. Jeff ‘s finished works are interesting, inviting and made to invoke an emotion from people through the subject matter. To him it is straight forward basics of art!

He states; “ most Artists have a meaningful quote, a profound statement or inner experience applied to their artistic endeavors. I do not see myself that philosophical and to be honest with myself I came to a simple conclusion. God gave me gifts I can use and explore in a lifetime, whether long or short. I have an opportunity to express a passion, interact with people, be an example, listen, encourage when possible and pass on the knowledge I have been given. If I accomplish one or more of these things each day, I am fulfilling my purpose in life”.

Jeff has lived in Loveland since 1975, is married with four children and one grandchild. He paints in oils: landscapes, wildlife, nature, animals, still life and thoroughly enjoys teaching workshops and private tutoring.

He has received awards and recognition in art shows around the state and is represented by Lincoln Art Gallery in Loveland, CO. Works have been purchased for private and corporate collections across the US and abroad.
