Jennifer Hunter studied classical painting at the prestigious American Academy of Art with classmate, Nancy Guzik.  There she also met and came to know Richard Schmid, and painted with them at the Palette and Chisel Academy.

While a student at American Academy,  Jennifer had a seascape accepted into the first Arts for the Parks. competition which was also published in the first Arts for the Parks calender.  She was selected for the Arts for the Parks top 200 in a later year with a watercolor painting of muleskinners in the Grand Canyon.

She loves western history and has traveled by horse drawn covered wagon filming a video documentary that aired on community television.  “Grassy Rest” comes from her experience on the wagon trains.

Jennifer's works are included in the collections of former President, Jimmy Carter, Michael Martin Murphey and John Denver.  Jennifer was awarded a stay as “Artist in Residence” at Rocky Mountain National Park in 1996 and she juried the 2010  program.  Her paintings have been featured in Western Horseman Magazine. The Estes Park Trail Gazette did a feature article on Jennifer when she donated her painting to Rocky Mountain National Park.

Her work has been accepted in many national shows including the 2011 Rockies West National,  Arts for the Parks (Award of Excellence 1987, top 200 1989), the Academic Artist's Association (1987, 1989, 1990 - award), Watercolor West, the Los Angeles Audubon Society Wildlife and Environmental Art Show,  Pastel Society of the West Coast- award,  Artists of the West, and the Adirondack's National Exhibition of American Watercolors.

Jennifer had a solo show at the Grand Canyon Visitor Center.  Her work has also been exhibited at the Phippen Museum of Western Art.

Jennifer will be teaching an art camp through a local park district this summer.  She is a member of the Transparent Watercolor Society of America.
