Jim moved from Vermont to Cody, WY in 2001 and turned to painting full-time in 2006.  His formal art training includes workshops with nationally known artists in Vermont, Maine, Wyoming and Washington and classes at Northwest College in Powell, WY.  Landscapes are his primary subject.  Jim's objective is to paint with mind-eye magic; to capture some of what the mind thinks it sees, rather than the absolutes that come from a camera, and to do this while maintaining a sense of place.

His paintings have been juried into: the C.W. Russell Art Auction;  the Oil Painters of America National Show; the Richard Schmid Fine Art Auction; the Estes Park Lines Into Shapes Exhibition; the Bennington, Vermont Impressions of New England; the Artists Association of Northern Colorado National Exhibition; and a number of other Wyoming and Montana shows/auctions.
