Joan H. Innes
Artwork
submitted for bid
at our September 5, 2010 auction:

"Horses at Rest"
12" X 18", Watercolor
Gallery Price:
$300
Joan is a fine art graduate from the University of Wyoming. She has
had a career teaching and has had opportunity to work with many talented
artists. There is a camaraderie with artists and art viewers from sharing
in the delight of the creative process and the resulting expression
of art.
Every opportunity to paint with watercolor is joyful. Old Holland and
Holbein paints are often the watercolors of this artist's choosing.
Usually 300 pound hot press Arches paper is used, although 140 pound
and various papers such as lithograph paper is worked with for differing
effects.
The Rocky Mountains including the Snowy Range and Mountains in Wyoming
and the Catalina Mountains in Arizona are Joan's main source of inspiration
for painting. From Lakes and marshes, to rivers and vast mountain vistas,
the diversity of ecological nuances give the artist endless reasons
for creating new watercolor paintings. Joan's paintings are a reflection
of the world around her. She often has her camera with her catching
the essence of an amazing pictorial moment, when a scene really speaks
to the heart. When the viewer emotionally connects with the piece, the
artist's vision has been accomplished.
