about the Illustrator,  JUDITH KAREN

Judy was born in Tokyo, Japan in 1948. She is a true ‘Army Brat’. From a very early age, she loved to draw, but she didn’t like coloring and it showed. She almost flunked "Coloring" in Kinder garten, following  in the great tradition of Albert Einstein who flunked Algebra once. 

The Birthday at Alice Dale Station illustrations are her seventh book. In addition, she has designed over a thousand posters, program covers, fliers, as well as logos, heralds banners, wine labels, cards and needlework designs.  She also has painted  fifteen murals and  has lost count of the  theater production sets that have passed beneath her brush.

Judy was ‘Resident Illustrator’ for the Rist Canyon Volunteer  Fire Department in Bellvue, Colorado for ten years. Her art was used as the yearly fliers and street signs. Her artwork has been sold at the Richard Schmid Fine Art Auction for the RCVFD Summer Festival and is also in the homes of private collectors.
