Thanks to her mother’s and grandmother’s encouragement, Tamara Simmons, who was born in post-war Germany, began painting at an early age.  In the 1960s she immigrated with her family to the United States where they settled in Maryland.  Tamara attended the Corcoran School of Fine Art in Washington, D.C. and graduated from the University of Maryland with a B.A. in Fine Art.

Since moving to Fort Collins, Colorado in the 1990s, Tamara has developed a classical old-world style, deriving inspiration from beauty that surrounds us -- be it a simple still life or the grandeur of our landscape.  For the past seven years, she has participated in the Colorado Governor’s Invitational Art Show, and since 2004 has taken part in the annual Rocky Mountain National Park Plein Air event.  Beginning in 2000 Tamara’s paintings have been accepted into the Richard Schmid  (Live) Fine Art Auction held annually in Rist Canyon, Colorado.  Moreover, she showed her work for the first time in this year’s 13th annual Stampede Western Invitational Art Exhibition in Greeley, Colorado.

A member of Oil Painters of America, she has received corporate, regional and national awards.  Tamara is represented by several Colorado galleries and her paintings are held in private collections throughout the U.S. and abroad.
