Born in Hollywood, California Theresa knew she wanted to be an artist at six years old. Formal studies began at the University ofHawaii and University of Utah and continued with hard work. "I have always believed that art should speak to everyone. Capturing a place intime, an event or moment and infusing it with emotion ... are my highest priorities. To draw the viewer into this world, I tell the story through shapes ofcolor and light expressed with brushwork and a solid design. The subject matter is unimportanL.it is a subtle mixture of mystery, longing, light, beauty and a bit ofun-reach ability that gives me the emotional reaction that in turn inspires me to paint. I strive for a mix of realism and looseness I find emotionally and visually satisfying" Influenced by many artists but particularly Sargent, Zorn, Repin, Richard Schmid, Dan Gerhartz and Jeremy Lipking. Eager to improve she has attended workshops with several national and local artists and received Honorary Scholarships to Scottsdale Artists' School twice. Painting is a continual process ofstriving towards excellence through education, painting from life and dedication. She resides in Carthage, Missouri and is a member ofOil Painters OfAmerica.
