The pleasure of painting for me is discovery- of light and shadow, colors, defining edges of unique shapes, moods... I can fall in love with almost any subject if I study it with paint. I am a Signature Member of the American Impressionist Society. My work has been selected for American Impressionist Society exhibitions; for Paint America Top 100 and Paint the Parks Mini-100; by the American Art Collector; and by regional exhibitions in North Carolina and Tennessee. Although I have never had the pleasure of meeting Richard Schmid, I have long admired his paintings, and studied his book Alla Prima: Everything I Know About Painting.
